World Invitational Sumó Tournament in Aomori, Japan, on Sun 14-May-2000.
9 teams participated in the tournament: Czech Republic,
Egypt, Georgia, Japan, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, USA, and the Aomori sumó
team.

Competition
took part in the Teams category
and in two additional categories: lightweight and heavyweight. These
however weren't standard lightweight and heavyweight categories.
Instead, all athletes were divided into these two groups based on their
bodyweight and the 130 kg limit, which was the average bodyweight.
Athletes under and including 130kg of bodyweight were in lightweight,
athletes above 130kg of bodyweight were in heavyweight.
